英国利兹大学P. A. Muhammed Basheer教授到重庆大学材料学院做学术讲座并就研究生合作培养展开研讨

2019年6月1日上午9时,英国工程院院士、爱尔兰工程院院士、英国利兹大学土木工程学院P. A. Muhammed Basheer教授应重庆大学材料学院邀请,在重庆大学B区材料学院103会议室与重庆大学国际合作处、材料学院老师们针对“重庆大学与利兹大学的硕博士研究生联合培养”展开了交流。

2019年6月1日上午,英国工程院院士、爱尔兰工程院院士、英国利兹大学土木工程学院P. A. Muhammed Basheer教授应重庆大学材料学院邀请,在重庆大学B区材料学院103会议室与重庆大学国际合作处、材料学院老师们针对“重庆大学与利兹大学的硕博士研究生联合培养”展开了交流。

重庆大学建材系主任王冲老师介绍了重庆大学、材料学院以及建筑材料系的概况。然后Basheer教授就利兹大学概况、土木工程学院概况以及利兹大学研究生培养相关情况进行了介绍。在此基础上,Basheer教授、重庆大学国际合作处以及材料学院老师们针对两校硕博士研究生联合培养进行了详细的讨论。

下午,Basheer教授在重庆大学B区材料学院学术报告厅进行了学术报告。本次学术报告以“Methods of assessing the durability and service life of concrete structures”为主题。讲座开始前,重庆大学材料学院建材系主任王冲老师对本次讲座的主讲嘉宾及举办讲座的目的进行了简要介绍,并对本次讲座邀请的嘉宾和到场师生表示感谢。希望通过此次讲座,大家能够互相交流、有所收获。

Basheer教授亲切的用英文对在场的师生表示问候,大家用热烈的掌声欢迎Basheer教授的到来。Basheer教授首先介绍了原位监测混凝土保护层的渗透性及化学变化需求,接着详细讲解了电阻抗传感器的发展和利用,并讨论了光纤化学传感器的发展以及新型原位渗透测试技术的发展等相关内容。

围绕本次报告内容,同学们积极踊跃地提问发言,针对每位同学提的问题,Basheer教授都进行了详细的解答。报告结束后,建材系王冲老师就此次报告做了总结,并再次代表学院领导和同学们对Basheer教授表示真诚的感谢。

下午3点,在材料学院103会议室,Basheer教授与建材系师生进一步开展了研究生座谈会。在本次座谈会中,大家踊跃发言,积极提问,针对目前在课题研究中存在若干问题进行了更深一步的探讨和交流,Basheer教授对同学们的提问都耐心地做出了解答。

Basheer教授的报告内容丰富,座谈会生动细致,建材系学生们在学术报告和座谈会中认真思考,积极交流,收获颇多。最后建材系师生再次对Basheer教授的远道而来表示感谢,大家合影留念,并希望在今后能有更多的交流机会,建立更深厚的友谊。

附:P. A. Muhammed Basheer教授个人简介

Professor P.A. Muhammed Basheer, PhD, DSc, FREng, FIAE, FICE, FACI, FICT, FIStructE, MIE(I), CEng.

Professor P.A. Muhammed Basheer, Chair in Structural Engineering and Head of School of Civil Engineering at University of Leeds, has been an educationalist and researcher in the field of civil (structural) engineering for 34 years. He has been a lecturer on analysis, design and durability of concrete structures at UG and PG levels and his research interests are primarily on the Science, Technology and Performance of Structural Materials, including non-destructive evaluation and structural health monitoring. His contributions to innovations in student education was recognised by Queen’s University Belfast by bestowing him with a University Teaching Prize in 2003. He was instrumental in developing a distance learning Masters Programme in Advanced Concrete Technology which is accredited by the Institute of Concrete Technology for their membership qualification. His research work includes the development of new test techniques for measuring transport properties of concrete, assessment of the effect of new materials and methods for improving the durability of concrete, prediction of service life of reinforced concrete structures by non-destructive testing and structural health monitoring, relationships between micro-structural properties and the durability of concrete and the use of industrial by-products and waste materials in concrete. He has received numerous awards/prizes for his contributions in research, including a life time achievement award from the Civil Engineering Research Association of Ireland and CANMET/ACI award for his sustained contributions to the field of concrete technology. He is a member of numerous international technical committees, grant review committees and professional institutions (including Council membership of three of them). He is a member of the editorial board of the International journal of Structural Engineering (IJStructE) since 2009 and served as an editor of the International Journal of Construction and Building Materials from 2012 to 2018. In 2012, he was elected to be a Fellow of the Irish Academy of Engineering and in 2014 he was elected to be a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. He is also a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers, American Concrete Institute, and the Institute of Concrete Technology.
