主讲人简介：

Professor Michael Hood is an internationally-recognised leader in developing and commercialising new technologies for the mining and drilling industries. After graduating in the UK with degrees in both mechanical and mining engineering, he gained his doctorate working on a project in the deep-level South African gold mines where he developed a breakthrough technique for rock excavation. 

He spent 15 years as an academic at the University of California, Berkeley before moving to Australia to take up the position as inaugural CEO of the Cooperative Research Centre, CMTE. This not-for-profit research company spun-off eight companies to commercialise a range of new technologies developed by the Centre during his 20 years of leadership. Michael served as director of all of these companies and chairman of most during their formative years, helping them cross the “valley of death” experienced by many new companies.

Prof Hood was elected as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (ATSE) in 2002. He is currently the chairman of the Queensland Division of this Academy.
