Some Innovations in Worm Gear Design and Technology

New challenges in the XXI Century were mainly appeared due to a new economical situation and new competition after the collapse of USSR. The only way to keep Izhevsk gearing center was to start own production activity and to develop new scientific and innovative solutions.
A new version of skiving by means of assembled cutter head was proposed and implemented in serial production of worm-type gears. The method showed a good efficiency and surface quality, flexibility and universalism, possibility of application of widespread equipment, simpler control for the contact localization and transmission error and production of worm-type gears with a very small gear ratios. It gives a new reason of application spiroid gears, which are simpler in production, instead of hypoid ones.
A new exotic solution – planetary gear, based only on worm-type gears and provided extremely high gear ratio (1000-1000000) – is considered, including kinematic and force analysis.
The final considered innovation is a new version of spiral bevel gear on the base of a new version of skiving. A design sequence and main features of the new version are considered.
主讲人简介:
Evgenii Trubachev is a Full Professor of Kalashnikov ISTU, Izhevsk, Russia. He is a head of two structures: scientific department “Institute of Mechanics named Professor Goldfarb” and small innovative enterprise “Mechanic”. His scientific activity focuses on gear theory (mainly geometric methods), the design and production of worm-type gears and gearboxes, innovations in gear technology to make gears more effective and technologically convenient. The author of new calculation methods for analysis and synthesis (mainly for worm-type gears), new versions of gears, new generation methods, the supervisor and main developer of the complex computer programs for design of worm-type and bevel gears. Main applied method are: analytical and differential geometry, numerical methods, physical modelling of the contact.
Practical implementations of developed methods and innovations are mainly connected with activity of the enterprise “Mechanic” in multi-nomenclature low-serial production of different gears and gearboxes.
